(A): According to Rule 13 of the Central Civil Services (Revised Pay) Rules, 2008 [CCS (RP) Rules 2008], in case of promotion from one grade pay to another grade pay, the fixation of salary in the pay band is 3 An increment equal to% will be provided and the current grade of a specific position will be calculated to the next coefficient of 10. This will be added to the current salary in the pay band. Thereafter, the promotion post will be provided in addition to the corresponding grade pay, salary in the pay band.

No separate method of salary determination has been prescribed under the MACP scheme. The benefit of salary fixation at the time of regular promotion will also be given at the time of financial upgradation under MACP scheme. Therefore, the salary will be increased to 3% of the total salary in the pay band and grade pay drawn before such upgradation. However, if the salary is in the grade pay given under the MACP scheme, then the salary will not be determined again at the time of regular promotion.

However, at the time of actual promotion, if this determination is made in a salary with a higher grade than the grade pay available under the MACP scheme then there will be no salary fixation and only the difference of grade pay will be provided. Further, in case of promotion to higher grade pay than grade pay given in MACP, the employee has the grade from the date of grant of such regular promotion / non-functional pay scale or from the date of accrual of next increment of salary paid under MACP.
