The central government is to launch the third phase of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) within a month. Skill Development Minister Mahendra Nath Pandey has given this information. Addressing an online event of Udyog Mandal Assocham, Pandey said on Friday that the plan this time emphasized on strengthening district level skill committees. He pointed out the need to design skill courses according to local needs.

Focused on strengthening
“We need to remember that we started the first and second phase of PMKVY and now we are going to start the third phase within a month,” the minister said.
In the third phase, the focus is on strengthening district-level skill committees, Pandey said. So that local skill requirements can be met. The government launched the first phase of PMKVY in 2015 and the second phase in 2016. Under it, the target was to develop skills for 1 crore people by 2020.
Millions have been trained
The government launched the scheme in 2015 and revised it in 2016 with the goal of making 10 million people skilled by 2020. According to official figures, more than 69 lakh people across the country have been trained under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana till November 11.
